Joe Sullivan’s Lecture at Stanford CS153 course

I had the privilege of being a guest lecturer at the Stanford CS153 course, Infrastructure at Scale, and the video is now available online. I used the opportunity to remind students through the lens of my experience that when building new technologies, they need to think not just about the technical challenges and business opportunities they can build through software, but also the regulatory landscape within which they will build. As technology has become a critical component of modern life, expectations on innovators have grown exponentially. It was really encouraging to see so much engagement from the packed house of students, who didn’t just want to pose with me for selfies, but also asked many very specific and thoughtful questions.
